Bent Jensen – 1948 – 2008
O mundo do remo está de luto, faleceu ontem um dos melhores treinadores mundiais – Bent Jensen.
Era o treinador do 4-LM do Canadá desde 2006, tendo conseguido conquistar a medalha de bronze este ano em Pequim.
Nos 30 anos de carreira conseguiu criar tripulações simplesmente fabulosas. Se há treinador que deixa a sua marca e se liberta da lei da morte este treinador é Bent Jensen. Foi o treinador principal do 4- ligeiro Dinamarquês medalha de ouro em 1996 e 2004 e bronze em 2000. Em 1998 foi nomeado treinador do Ano pela FISA.
Para ele os atletas estavam sempre em primeiro e providenciou sempre tudo para que eles pudessem brilhar e ganhar medalhas.

Jensen e Dane Carsten Hassing, foram para o Canadá em 2006.
Hassing afirma que “Ninety-five percent of the way I look at rowing comes from Bent. He was a mentor, but more than anything he was a friend.”
Jensen, nunca equacionou não ir a Pequim. Apesar de a doença já estar numa fase avançada e de os tratamentos serem muito penosos Jensen fui a Pequim ver os seus atletas ganharem o ouro e o bronze.
